NATURE BY NUMBERS. A SHORT MOVIE INSPIRED ON NUMBERS, GEOMETRY AND NATURE · BY CRISTÓBAL VILA · 2010
ABOUT STILLS MOVIE WIP
ENGLISH --- Artists and architects have used since ancient times many geometrical and mathematical properties: we could take some examples simply by observing the refined use of the proportions by architects from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome or other Renaissance artists like Michelangelo, Da Vinci or Raphael. But what is more surprising for me is that many of these properties and mathematical developments are also present in NATURE. We could find countless cases,but I wanted to refer only three of them on this short animation: The Fibonacci Series and Spiral / The Golden and Angle Ratios / The Delaunay Triangulation and Voronoi Tessellations. Hope you enjoy it. Cristóbal Vila · Saragossa · Spain · 2010 --- SPANISH --- El arte y la arquitectura han hecho uso desde antiguo de muchas propiedades de la geometría y las matemáticas: basta con observar la refinada aplicación de las proporciones que llevaban a cabo los arquitectos del Antiguo Egipto, Grecia y Roma o los artistas del Renacimiento, como Miguel Angel, Da Vinci o Rafael. Pero lo que para mi resulta más sorprendente es que muchas de esas propiedades y desarrollos matemáticos también pueden hallarse en la NATURALEZA. Existen infinidad de casos, pero en esta animación he querido detenerme sólo en tres de ellos: La Serie y Espiral de Fibonacci / La Proporción y el Ángulo Áureos / Las Triangulaciones de Delaunay y Teselaciones de Voronoi.
